### Kate says…

> When you’re shopping for broadband deals, do your homework and find out the maximum speed for your area. There’s no point spending extra on an ultra-fast package if the infrastructure in your area physically won’t allow those speeds.
>
> “If you pay your energy bills monthly, your supplier will aim to spread the costs evenly over the year. In summer you’ll be paying for a bit more than you’re using, but then you won’t get hit with massive bills in winter. That’s sensible, but some customers end up with more credit in their account than they need.
>
> "You could be using that money for something else! So check your account in late spring or early summer. If there’s more than a couple of months’ worth of credit there, you can withdraw it. Excessive credit build-up is more likely to happen if you don’t take meter readings very often, so either get into the habit of regular meter checks or upgrade to a smart meter.”
