Accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 22 September 2025 and was last reviewed on 5 October 2025.
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
We are committed to making our website and core price comparison services (Car, Van, Home and Energy) accessible to all users. This commitment is a core part of our business, reflecting our obligations under the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Consumer Duty and our desire to provide good outcomes for all customers, including those who are in vulnerable circumstances.
We also recognise that in the insurance industry, many services rely on trusted third-party providers. As part of our commitment to accessible customer journeys, we work closely with our partners to ensure their platforms and content also meet high accessibility standards. We actively advise and support them on how to improve their accessibility and will continue to do so to ensure a consistent and inclusive experience for all our customers, no matter which part of our service they are using.
2. Compliance Status for Go.Compare website, and our core comparison services - Car, Van, Home and Energy
Our digital platforms are designed and built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. Our aim is to achieve the highest possible standard, WCAG 2.2 Level AAA.
Go.Compare website and comparison services for car, van, home and energy are partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level AAA.
"Partially compliant" means that while we meet the majority of the Level AAA success criteria, there are some areas that do not yet fully conform. We have outlined these issues in the "Non-accessible content" section, along with our plans and timelines for resolving them.
3. Non-Accessible Content and Barriers
Keyboard and Focus Issues
These issues primarily affect users who rely on keyboards, screen readers, or other assistive technologies for navigation. We expect to resolve these issues with continuous improvements released throughout the financial year 2025-2026.
Product Parts Impacted: My account, Car/Van/Home/Energy questionnaires and results pages.
Issues:
- Hidden, out-of-context buttons (e.g., session timeout pop-ups) are focusable via keyboard before the main content in Car and Home questionnaire journeys.
- Focus order issues, such as the More info accordions on the results pages not being easily reachable via keyboard tabbing after selection.
- Essential UI like the "opt-out of the reminders" checkbox is not focusable via keyboard in the Car and Home questionnaires, as well as the help text on the Energy questionnaire or unit rates dropdown in Energy results.
- There is no accessible focus state on questionnaires and results pages for Car, Van, Home, and Energy. The audit notes that this feature is only present on the website.
Impact: Without a clear focus state, keyboard users cannot see which element they are currently on, making it impossible to navigate through forms, links, and buttons. This prevents them from performing essential tasks and completing their journey.

Missing Labels and Descriptions
These issues make it difficult for screen reader users to understand the purpose of interactive elements and form fields.
Product Parts Impacted: Website, My account, Car/Van/Home/Energy questionnaires and results pages.
Issues:
- Form fields across the Car, Van, Home, and Energy questionnaires are missing associated labels. Examples include fields for "Registration number," "estimated market value," "renewal price," and "Cost to replace belongings."
- The "Yes/No" buttons on the Car/Home/Van questionnaire are announced as "one of one," providing no context of the alternative option.
- Icons and logos, such as the "eye" icon on the Sign-in page and the Go.Compare logo in the header, lack proper descriptions.
Impact: Screen reader users cannot understand what information they are supposed to enter into these fields or what the purpose of an interactive element is. This makes task completion difficult or impossible.
WCAG References: WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value, WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, WCAG 1.1.1 Non-text Content.
Colour and Contrast Issues
These problems primarily impact users with low vision or colour blindness, making it difficult to read text and distinguish links. We expect to resolve these issues with continuous improvements released throughout the financial year 2025-2026.
Product Parts Impacted: My account, Car/Van/Home/Energy questionnaires and results pages.
Issues:
- Selection buttons throughout the questionnaires on all products and text like "Price Cut" and "Special Offer" on the Car/Home/Van questionnaire and results pages have low contrast.
- The Energy questionnaire and results pages have widespread contrast issues, including body and footer links, and text on results cards.
- Links on the Energy pages rely on colour alone to be distinguishable.
Impact: Text is difficult to read for many users, particularly in bright sunlight or for those with visual impairments. The over-reliance on colour to indicate links makes them unusable for users with colour blindness.
WCAG References: WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum), WCAG 1.4.1 Use of Colour.
Technical and Contextual Issues
These issues relate to the underlying code and how information is presented to assistive technology. We expect to resolve these issues with continuous improvements released throughout the financial year 2025-2026.
Product Parts Impacted: Car/Van/Home questionnaires.
Issues:
- No error handling is announced by VoiceOver during the Car/Home/Van questionnaire, leaving users unaware of why they cannot proceed.
Impact: Users can be blocked from completing their tasks without a clear reason.
WCAG References: WCAG 3.3.1 Error Identification.

5. Technical Information
We have embedded accessibility directly into our software development lifecycle. Our process ensures that accessibility is not an afterthought but a fundamental part of our quality assessment for every new feature and update.
We use a combination of automated and manual testing to audit our digital platforms. Automated testing is integrated into our continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to catch accessibility issues early. This is complemented by regular manual audits carried out by our in-house team to identify more complex issues that automated tools can't detect. This approach helps us maintain a high standard of accessibility throughout the development process.
